Interview: Sav Did It

Sav Did It: I’m blessed man I can’t complain. Been in the studio a lot lately staying busy as always.

2. When/How did you start/get into making music?

Sav Did It: I’ve always been a fan of music but I didn’t start actually creating it until I was around 12 or 13. A homie of mine back in the day had some turntables and an old school drum machine hooked up to his computer and once I started learning how to make beats I knew that’s what I wanted to do. The rapping came way later, my real passion was always the producing aspect but as time went on I played around on the Mic as well and kept at it.

3. What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

Sav Did It: I grew up listening to the old school shit so 2pac and a lot of artists and groups from that 90’s — 00’s era played a big part in my inspiration. I was always a fan of the producers who made the beats too, I used to read the song credits on every album I loved to see who was pushing the buttons behind my favorite songs. Johnny J who did a lot of Pac’s beats, Dr. Dre of course and The Legendary Traxster were always in my top 10 as far as producers go. Pac, Big L, a lot if the old school west coast artists of course, Twista, Bone Thugs, Biggie and E-40 were all my early favorites and then I really started fuckin with the southern music when it started taking over too. UGK, 36 Mafia, T.I., Outkast and the whole crunk movement was always dope to me so when trap took over that lane inspired me a lot as well.

4. What is the most complex subject you’ve ever written about?

Sav Did It: I’d have to say 90% of the music I’m working on at the moment is probably my most complex content to date. I wanted to take my time on the song concepts and really touch on some deeper subjects again so the creative process has been taking months and months to complete but it’ll be worth the wait. There’s one song in particular that I wrote about some real people who passed away in my life I cant wait to share when it’s finished.

5. What is the most outstanding achievement you’ve ever accomplished?

Sav Did It: Becoming a father. No cap. My kids are the reason I grind as hard as I do. Money and success is just a vessel to provide for them at the end of the day.

6. Are you planning on releasing new music soon?

Sav Did It: Yeah I’m actually in the studio finishing up my 3rd and 4th solo projects as we speak. We’re going to release both this summer and a plethora of videos as well. Summer about to be poppin.

7. What is next for you?

Sav Did It: Most definitely more music and eventually some new film projects we have in the works. Shopping some scripts around as we speak and I’ll probably do some acting as well. It’s going down.
